MID-YEAR BOOK FREAK OUT TAG

mid-year-book-freak-out I was tagged by Jess @ Princessica of Books to do the Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag. Sooo here I am! My Goodreads challenge goal was to read 250 books this year and so far I’ve managed to read 132 (you can see what I’ve read here). A majority of those books are YA novels but I’ve also managed to binge-read quite a lot of comics.

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2015.

This is tough! 2015 has been such a great year so far (in terms of reading) because I’ve enjoyed so many of the books I’ve read. I’d probably go with A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas or A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2015.

The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski. I’ve been reading a lot more new releases (which are often the first book in a series) or standalones so I haven’t been reading that many series.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

Okay I have tons of new releases I want to read but fine..I’ll pick a couple. Delicate Monsters by Stephanie Kuehn and Wicked by Rhiannon Thomas are on the top of my “books to buy ASAP” list.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas. I actually haven’t even started Heir of Fire yet (mostly because it’s SO LONG and I’m not feeling like committing). But I’m planning on reading Heir of Fire sometime soon because I want to finish it during the holidays when I have plenty of time to read.

5. Biggest disappointment.

The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings or Alienated by Melissa Landers. The premise for both books seemed great but the actual books weren’t quite so great..

6. Biggest surprise.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. The book was assigned by my Humanities teacher and (for the most part) I find books assigned at school to be a bit boring. Fortunately, I ended up enjoying The Kite Runner.

7. Favorite new author.

V. E. Schwab! Technically she’s not new but I only got around to reading her books this year.

8. Newest fictional crush.

TAMLIN from ACOTAR!!! (he’s mine ladies, back off!)

9. Newest favorite character.

Simon from Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda.

10. Book that made you cry.

Few books have the ability to make me cry. But I Was Here by Gayle Forman really wrecked me. Oh gosh you guys, that book reminded me why I read (to experience the world through the eyes of different characters).

11. Book that made you happy.

The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey. It’s a unique fantasy book that features awesome characters and I was just shipping everyone. It was awesome.

12. Favorite book to film adaptation you saw this year.

The Maze Runner! I really enjoyed the book and I was worried the adaptation would suck. BUT I ended up loving it! The special effects were amazing and I was so happy to finally get to “see” what I’d read and obsessed over so long ago.

13. Favorite post you have done so far in this year.

Probably the Beautiful People :: July Edition post. For a while now, I’ve really wanted to talk more about my writing on this blog but I was wrestling with some self-doubt. Publishing that post felt like a big step for me because I was finally ready to share that part of my life on this blog. I don’t know why it was such a huge deal to me because I’ve been posting work on writing websites like Figment and Wattpad but my blog has always gotten more readers/views/etc. than my profiles on those websites probably do..So I was nervous.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year.

22840182

15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I’m trying to get through a lot of my “most anticipated” releases for 2015 because I just like knowing what’s going on (especially since many of them have tons of hype surrounding them). So yes I have books like Winter by Marissa Meyer and Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas on my list but I’m a mood reader so I’m always re-organizing my tbr for the week every week.

Who I Tag:
