The ABBA book tag

I’m so (woefully) behind on all my book tags that I’ve actually lost track of all the ones I was tagged for (sorry about that!). But break started! And Alyssa recently tagged me to do the ABBA book tag and the Unpopular Opinions tag (which I’ve done before here) so I decided I may as well do this tag. If you guys haven’t already, do go check out Alyssa’s fabulous blog – it’s super cool and if you sign up for her newsletter, you get bonus content (that is frankly quite awesome).

Take a Chance on Me (a book you unexpectedly liked)

I don’t usually read historical fiction but Code Name Verity was incredible. I borrowed the audiobook from my school’s digital library and couldn’t stop listening to it. There was one point where I was hiding my phone under the covers and listening to the book at midnight because I desperately wanted to know what happened next.

The Winner Takes it All (An overhyped book)

I had really high expectations for Everything, Everything but the characters weren’t very three dimensional and the plot was rather nonexistent. It was interesting to read but not a book that I would want to reread.

Waterloo (An amazing historical fiction book)

Like I said, I barely read historical fiction so once again Code Name Verity!! Read it! You won’t regret it!

You’re Only A Child (a recently published book)

Ok this was published two months ago but I recently finished reading it so it sort of counts. And these days, I rarely read a book right after it’s published. I’m too busy catching up!

I Have A Dream (a favourite, ‘ideal’ book)

A Darker Shade final for Irene

Alyssa mentioned this one too but THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD. I mean there’s magic and time travel and (hot) time travelers. Also, Kell is my absolute favorite.

Dancing Queen (A book with royalty)

18006496

I guess Queen of Shadows definitely counts! But I personally feel like this book isn’t as good as the first few. And I didn’t really enjoy the chapters from other character’s POVs – I just wanted it to focus on Celaena/Aelin.

Money, Money Money (a book you’re willing to pay lots for, because it’s awesome)

The Rose & The Dagger is the sequel to The Wrath and the Dawn which is a retelling of the Arabian Nights. Shazi is one of my favorite female characters and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Lay All Your Love on Me (a book that needs more attention)

20734002

The Weight of Feathers is such an incredible book but for some reason I haven’t heard it mentioned as much as the books I’ve used to answer the previous questions. The Weight of Feathers is so original and so fucking perfect. You guys should definitely add this one to your tbr piles.

Here We Go Again (a book that seemed to copy another book)

22328546

I’m not saying Red Queen isn’t a good book because it is but it’s a lot like other dystopian books that were already out there. Parts of it just reminded me of other books I’d read (ie. The Winner’s Curse) so it didn’t seem that original.

S.O.S. (A book that should get in trouble and NOT be rescued)

13206900

I was really looking forward to reading Winter but then I didn’t end up ditching it. I enjoyed the first three books in The Lunar Chronicles but Winter was pretty disappointing.

Knowing Me, Knowing You (a book you know a lot about for whatever reason)

3

Sorry guys, I couldn’t think of anything other than Harry Potter which I don’t remember a lot about anymore.

Thanks for tagging me Alyssa! I am not going to tag anyone but if anyone wants to do this tag, go right ahead!

I’m curious, what book do you know a lot about? And which book/series deserves more attention?

  1. Code Name Verity is just DELICIOUS. It’s kinda like French food in that it feels kind of “nope” when you hear about it (beetroot canapes?!?) but turns out fabulously refreshing and unique and just GIVE IT ALL TO ME. I admit I don’t adore the cover of The Rose and the Dagger, but who am I kidding, I’ll definitely grab a copy sooner or later.

Thanks for doing the tag 😀

    1. Well I for one happen to hate beetroot but who knows, maybe I would want more if I just tried one! 😉 I think the cover of The Rose and the Dagger is okay but not really one of my favorites.. I just really want to know what will happen to Shazi 😛
      Thanks for tagging me! 🙂

  2. In The Company Of Killers series is really amazing, I loved it, it’s one of my fav series, and I plan to do a post talking about it and I think that series deserves more attention. And Fobidden I think is a book I know a lot about because I remember the story so clear… Great answers! And I agree with you about Red Queen, I really liked it but I didn’t love it, it wasn’t that amazing book for me.

    1. Oh I’ve never heard of The Company of Killers (time to google!). Yeah, I was hoping Red Queen would be really good – I mean the cover is so beautiful! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
