Snazzy Snippets is an awesome bimonthly link-up for writers. It’s hosted by Emily @ Loony Literate and Alyssa @ The Devil Orders Takeout. It’s a great opportunity to share snippets of your writing (500 words or less).
The first snippet is from the start of Chapter 6 of Vivid. The rest of the snippets are from 2 different short stories I am currently working on: Cheat and The Circus.

OH, these are so incredibly lovely, dear! I am so intrigued by the first snippet, because a mermaid at a school? That is bound to be all sorts of magical. (Plus she has pink hair, which is awesome ;D).
I could feel so much urgency in the second snippet, which is pretty fabulous since it’s 16 words long! I also identified, as I am a really crappy swimmer, so would probably feel the same way if I dived in anywhere, haha.
AND THAT LAST ONE. CIRCUSSSSSS. It read so vividly, and I hope you share more! I cannot wait tor ead more about that story 😀

Yeah the first snippet was taken from a book that has magical realism so all of the main characters are some kind of creature (mermaid, warlock, witch, etc.). It sounds like you might like looking at the pinterest board for that book haha: https://www.pinterest.com/rachana_h/inspiration-vivid/
I always worry whether my writing is conveying the appropriate emotion so I’m glad to hear that in this case at least, I did manage to get that feeling across. (I’m a bad swimmer too!) I’m still editing the story that I took the last snippet from but when I’m done, I’m planning on posting it on my blog + various other writing sites. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by my blog Chiara!

EEEK CIRCUS SHORT STORY YAY. I am a huge circuses ever since The Night Circus, and yours has a lovely atmosphere too! And OMG, mermaids with fish for defoliation = THE BESTEST. Adore your snippets, Rachana — thank you for linking up!

OMG I KNOW RIGHT?! I’m still reading The Night Circus but I’m enjoying it so much. (But the story was written before I began reading that book ;). I’m so glad you like the snippets! ❤ (I think these are probably the best ones so far!)
